The fireplace was the centerpiece of our great room, but it felt outdated and didn’t match the modern loaour living space felt so much more open and connected, but it wasn’t quite complete. The next step was to enhance this newfound openness with a modern edge: minimalistic iron railings.ok we wanted. We aimed for a more contemporary style with clean lines and a sleek finish. As we planned the changes, we realized that altering the fireplace would affect the whole area around it. Our vision of an “organic modern” style with a touch of rustic charm came to life, blending natural elements with a minimalist design to create a warm and sophisticated space. This transformation not only improved the look of our great room but also set a new standard for the rest of our home

We wanted to keep the space feeling open and airy. Heavy or bulky railings would have replaced one visual barrier with another, so we chose sleek, minimalistic iron railings. The vertical round tubing and flat bar steel posts provided the sturdiness we needed without compromising the openness. We added grab rails for safety, ensuring the design remained simple and stylish.

These railings blend style and practicality perfectly. With our main living area on the upper level, we needed to keep Stetson and Savannah from treating the stairs like their personal playground. The removable gate, seamlessly integrated into the railings, was one of our best decisions. It keeps our pups safe and can be easily removed, giving us flexibility without compromising on style.

The effect of the new railings was immediate. They almost disappear when you look at them, making the room feel even larger. The design fits perfectly with our organic modern aesthetic, adding a touch of industrial chic while maintaining a sense of openness and tranquility. The views from our living room now flow seamlessly to the outdoors, enhancing our connection to nature
